Before you start

Three things to have at hand so you don't have to interrupt the payment halfway.

Your bank credentials

They are the same ones you use to log in to your home banking. If you don't remember them, recover them from your bank's app or website before starting the payment.

Your smartphone

Your bank may ask you to confirm your identity through its app, a code or another security method. Keep with you the device you usually use to access your bank.

A little patience with authentication

Depending on the bank, during the journey you may be asked to enter your credentials or confirm your identity more than once. This is expected: follow the instructions shown by your bank.

Before you start, check
  • Bank credentials available
  • Smartphone at hand
  • Bank app accessible, when required

How it works

Five steps, from purchase to outcome.

  1. Choose Pay by Bank — On the seller's website Select it among the payment methods available on the website or app you are purchasing from.

  2. Choose your bank, if required — On the Fabrick screen Search for and select the bank of the account you want to use for the payment. If the seller already knows your bank, this step may not be shown to you.

  3. Log in to your bank — On your bank's interfaces You are redirected to your bank's environment. Log in with your credentials and follow the instructions shown. In some cases you may be asked to authenticate more than once.

  4. Check and authorize the payment — On your bank's interfaces Verify the information shown and authorize according to the methods provided by your bank, for example through the app on your smartphone or a security code.

  5. Return to the payment journey — On the Fabrick screen or on the seller's website After authorizing, always return to the payment journey to see the outcome: depending on the seller, you will see it on the Fabrick screen or directly on their website or in their app.

Who does what during the payment

During the journey you go through three different screens. This is normal: each has a specific role.

ScreenWhat you doIn short
The seller's websiteHere you choose what to buy and start the payment. Depending on the seller, at the end you may see the outcome here. You choose and start
The Fabrick screenHere you choose your bank (if required), check the amount and beneficiary and are redirected to its environment. Depending on the seller, at the end you return here to see the outcome. You check and start the payment
Your bank's environmentHere you log in, check the amount and beneficiary and authorize the payment. You log in and authorize
note

After authorization the journey closes where it started: you return to the Fabrick screen and then to the seller's website, or directly to the seller's website.

What always remains true

  • ✅ No payment starts without your authorization.
  • ✅ Amount and beneficiary are already prepared: you see them and check them before confirming.
  • ✅ You don't have to enter card details.

After authorizing

Authorization in the bank is not the last step: you see the outcome on the Fabrick screen or, depending on the seller, directly on their website or in their app.

Stay on the page until the outcome, without closing it and without using the back button: it is the quickest way to find out how it went. If the outcome is not clear to you, check the transaction on your account or ask the seller before starting a new payment.

OutcomeWhat it means
Payment authorizedThe payment order has been authorized by you and correctly transmitted to your bank, which proceeds with the execution of the transfer. The order confirmation and the information on shipping or service come from the seller.
Not authorizedThe payment was not completed and is not charged. See what to check before trying again.

If the payment is not authorized

Four checks to do before trying again.

Are instant transfers active?

Check in your bank's app or home banking that this type of transfer is available and active on your account.

Is the limit sufficient?

Your bank may set a maximum amount for instant transfers. Check that the available limit is equal to or greater than the payment amount.

Your home banking settings

Depending on the bank, you can check and, where provided, change the enabling of instant transfers and the related limits directly from the app or home banking. If you can't find these settings or can't change them, contact your bank.

The available balance

Check that you have sufficient funds on the account you are using.

Are you using a business account?

On a Business account additional checks are needed: go to the dedicated section.

Are you using a Business account?

On a business account additional checks may be needed. The methods depend on your bank and on the permissions associated with your user profile.

Is the PSD2 channel enabled?

Check that your account and your user profile are enabled to carry out operations through the services provided by your bank on the PSD2 channel. If you can't proceed with Pay by Bank, check this setting in your home banking or contact your bank.

Do you have the authority to authorize payments?

On Business accounts not all users can carry out dispositive operations. If you can view the account but cannot initiate payments, it may be necessary to use another user profile or involve an authorized person.

Does the account require joint signatures?

Some business accounts require a payment to be authorized by multiple people. If joint signatures or multiple authorizations are configured on your account, after the first authorization a second approval from another authorized user may be needed, according to the methods provided by your bank.

Not all banks handle multiple signatures on the PSD2 channel. Where the bank provides for it, the double authorization process continues normally; where it is not available, the payment may not be completed even if your account is configured correctly. In this case, check with your bank or use an account with a single authorized signature.

Before trying again with a Business account
  • The PSD2 channel is enabled
  • Your user profile has the necessary dispositive powers
  • You know whether the account requires one or more authorizations

Do you need help?

Depending on the problem, the quickest answer comes from different contacts.

Contact your bank for everything concerning your account and access:

  • Credentials that don't work or need to be recovered
  • Instant transfers not active or limits too low
  • Enabling of the PSD2 channel
  • Dispositive powers and joint signatures on Business accounts

Contact the seller for everything concerning the purchase:

  • Order not confirmed after an authorized payment
  • Doubts about the outcome of the payment
  • Shipping, returns and refunds
  • Modification or cancellation of the order

If required, choose your bank and follow the instructions to authorize the payment. At the end you will see the outcome.

Who is Fabrick?

Fabrick S.p.A. is a Payment Institution authorized and supervised by the Bank of Italy and is part of the Sella group. When you pay with Pay by Bank, Fabrick collects your payment order and transmits it to your bank, which executes it after your authorization.

Do I have to fill in a bank transfer?

No. Fabrick Pay by Bank allows you to authorize the payment directly from your account, without manually entering the IBAN, payment reference or other information typical of a traditional bank transfer.

Why am I redirected to my bank?

Because it is in your bank's environment that you verify and authorize the payment, according to the security methods provided by the bank itself.

Is it secure?

Authorization takes place according to the security methods provided by your bank. Fabrick is an authorized payment service provider and operates within the scope of the PSD2 regulation.
